Since 1988, VEDA has recognized deserving members’ leadership in the economic development field, outstanding professional accomplishments, and service to our organization through the Cardinal Award. With the addition of Keith Taylor and Terry Holzheimer in 2007, the total number of Cardinals is now 26.
Cardinal award winners serve on the Cardinal Council, established by the Board in 2005. The Council serves as a deliberative resource for the Board on an as-needed basis.
The Cardinal Award is not a yearly award but is given by VEDA as its most prestigious award. If merited, this award is usually presented at our Fall Conference in September/October. So, it is now time to move toward nominations of members, both past and present, who warrant this year’s recognition.
Please take the time to review the enclosed selection criteria (there are three) and complete the nomination form for persons you think meet them. The Cardinal Award Committee, consists of past award winners, the Vice President of VEDA whose responsibilities include awards, and the immediate Past President. The Committee will then review your nominations and, if merited, select the 2008 recipient(s).
As experienced in the past, those selected are deeply appreciative of the recognition by their peers.
In submitting a nomination, please note that it needs to be in VEDA hands by July 25, 2008. If you have any questions, please call me at 804-966-2830 or Connie Long at 757-412-2664.
We look forward to your nominations.
