VEDA Committee Descriptions
- Cardinal Award Committee – Coordinates
the selection process and ultimate presentation of the
Cardinal Award at the VEDA Fall Conference and Annual
Meeting.
- Communications Committee – Recommends
and provides external communications as approved by the
VEDA Board and in conjunction with the Executive Director.
- Executive Committee – Consists
of the duly elected officers and immediate past president
of VEDA. This group will meet as needed and can act on
behalf of the Board. All actions of the executive committee
must be reported to the Board at the next Board meeting.
- Fall Conference Committee – The
Fall Conference is held during the month of September
and will include two and a half days of activities and
conference sessions. A Fall Conference Committee recommends
a program to the Board and oversees the planning and
implementation of the event in coordination with the
VEDA Executive Director.
- Finance Committee – Meets as
needed to make recommendations to the Board relative
to VEDA’s financial investment decisions as well
as conducts a Sponsorship Opportunity Campaign and follows
up on those solicitations.
- Membership Committee – Shall
encourage and promote membership in VEDA and shall review
and recommend applications for membership as provided
in the by-laws. The Membership Committee may make recommendations
to the Board on those persons who they would designate
as Honorary Members of the VEDA prior to the annual Meeting.
- Nominating Committee – Shall
select a slate of candidates for Officers and Directors,
which, with the consent of the candidates, shall be presented
at the Annual Meeting. The proposed slate should be presented
to the VEDA Board at least 20 days prior to the annual
Leadership Retreat.
- Public Policy Committee – Provides
the VEDA Board with information on public policy issues
impacting economic development, recommends policy statements
for the annual Public Policy Agenda, and provides the
Board alternative ways to address Executive and Legislative
branch actions impacting VEDA’s Public Policy Agenda.
- Program Committee – Reviews the content and themes of VEDA’s conferences and meetings to ensure consistency of message across programs. Explore opportunities to deliver training and education to members.
- Scholarship Committee – Collects
scholarship applications and makes recommendations for
scholarship recipients.
- Spring Conference Committee – The
Spring Conference is held in March/April and will include
a day and a half of activities and conference sessions.
The conference committee recommends a program to the
Board and oversees the planning and implementation of
the event in coordination with the VEDA Executive Director.
