The City of Virginia Beach Department of Economic Development is seeking a Relocation Specialist for the Oceana Land Use Conformity Program Plan.
$51,756 (Salary negotiable with regard to education & exp.)
Requires any combination of education (above the high school level) and/or experience equivalent to seven (7) years in fields utilizing the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above and associated with such positions as Real Estate Agent, Insurance Agent, Civil Engineer or Marketing Agent.
This person will facilitate the replacement of non-conforming uses in the APZ-1 area surrounding NAS Oceana with commercial conforming uses. The position will serve as the authoritative point of inquiry for all APZ-1 related issues and will promote awareness of the APZ-1 conformity program. The position will require mastery of land use principles. The occupants of APZ-1 properties may require relocation assistance. The personnel, including the funding to support the salary of this position, and the operating costs will be funded through capital project #9-060, Oceana & Interfacility Traffic Area Conformity & Acquisition, which is expected to be a long-term project.
In addition, the individual will develop business relocation and existing business expansion prospects and will promote, retain, and expedite the profitable growth and expansion of Virginia Beach companies.

Experience developing relocation or expansion business prospects, and programs or activities that promote, retain or enhance the growth and expansion of businesses; experience providing knowledge of the City's economic development program and the Department's mission, values and strategy; experience working with a grant program, establishing and maintaining professional relationships with government officials, business executives, and economic development parties; project management experience of complex construction projects; and experience preparing a variety of complex reports and studies; and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Access and Office Suite.
