City releases fourth-quarter statistical report


The report shows that sales, lodging and meals tax revenues all rose in 2017 compared with 2016. The report also shows a variety of data on commercial vacancy rates, real estate transactions and more.

Urban Slide event planned over Labor Day weekend

 

The City of Fredericksburg and its Economic Development Authority, along with the University of Mary Washington, are working on plans to bring a 1,000-foot-long water slide to a stretch of Hanover Street for a day of slip-n-slide fun on September 1.

City of Fredericksburg seeking funds to spruce up downtown

 

City Council voted Tuesday to seek funding through a VDOT program that helps fund projects that expand localities' options for pedestrians and enhance local transportation networks by improving their cultural, historical and environmental aspects.

The April 9 meeting of Fredericksburg's Architectural Review Board will include reviews of a Sophia Street residential project, a new retail business on Caroline Street and more.

City seeking services for downtown pedestrian enhancement project


The engineering proposal shall include services to develop specifications and construction bid documents for the installation of brick sidewalks and crosswalk improvements on 11 blocks in the urban core, for the installation of lighting on five of those blocks, and for resurfacing the Market Square alley in a manner that meets ADA standards.

Repairs to occur on Lansdowne Road

 

The City of Fredericksburg will have an emergency road project under way that will close Lansdowne Road to through traffic from April 9-27.
