Downtown Hampton, The Original
Downtown - Join conference attendees and VEDA members for a guided walking
tour featuring a diverse range of businesses in Virginia’s first town. The tour
will begin with a behind the scenes look of m2 Pictures studio and
production facility located in the historic Post Office Building.
m2 Pictures is an award-winning producer of television programs including
series for Discovery Networks, Animal Planet and National Geographic. Next is a
tour of the new 50,000 square foot headquarters building for Old Point National
Bank. Learn how Old Point preserved the past while building for its
future in this brand new state-of-the-art facility. Following will be a
brief stop at one of Hampton’s newest businesses, Simply Panache, makers of
“Mango Mango,” Mango Preserves featured on NBC’s Shark Tank. This
business has recently located in an adaptively reused warehouse building made
possible through an EDA grant providing new retail and office space in
Downtown. Last we will take a stroll through Hampton’s working
waterfront, where waterman still unload and process fresh seafood as they have
for centuries in Downtown Hampton.
Tour leaves from the Crown Plaza
lobby at 1:00 p.m. and returns by 3:00 pm. Total walking distance for the tour
is approximately one mile.

There is no cost for this walking tour, but registration is required. The tour can accommodate a maximum of 20 people.
