Virginia Economic Developers Association

The Virginia Economic Developers Association (VEDA) is a not-for-profit, non-partisan membership organization for individuals with a professional interest in economic development across the Commonwealth of Virginia.

VEDA is the voice of economic development in Virginia. Its members include local, regional and state economic development professionals, utility and transportation executives with responsibilities for economic development, as well as elected officials and professionals in the fields of engineering, construction, development, higher education, real estate, consulting, finance and others who work directly or indirectly to support the economic health of the Commonwealth.

VEDA supports sound economic development policies, regional cooperation and the maintenance and expansion of efforts by state, regional, and local governments and other interested organizations to foster the growth of employment business sectors that will expand the job opportunities and improve quality of life for all Virginians.

Membership in the Virginia Economic Developers Association is open to individuals only and is non-transferable.

	Associate
			An Associate Member of the VEDA must be an individual with a professional interest in some aspect of economic development who does not reside within the Commonwealth of Virginia. Associate Members shall be entitled to all membership privileges except holding office.
	Student
			A Student member must be an individual who is a full-time student at an accredited institution, pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree. Full-time will mean 12 semester hours for undergraduate students and 9 semester hours for graduate students. Individuals enrolled in certificate programs that do not culminate in a degree are not eligible for Student membership. Student members shall be entitled to all membership privileges except holding office.
	Professional
			Except for employees of the Virginia Economic DevelopmentPartnership and employees of Virginia-based companies residing outside of the Commonwealth of Virginia (“Authorized Non-Residents”), a Member of the VEDA must reside within the Commonwealth of Virginia and have a professional interest in some aspect of economic development. Members shall be entitled to all membership privileges including, without limitation, holding office and voting; provided, however, Authorized Non-Residents may vote, but are not eligible to hold office unless they are going to reside in the Commonwealth of Virginia during their tenure in office.
