Events & Activities

Capitol Post is accepting applicationsfor the next cohort of their Startup School. In this 9-week program, veterans and their spouses can test their ideas, accelerate & build their businesses with expert thought leaders, mentors, and professionals. The program culminates with a pitch competition & cash prize. Apply now!(Applications due Tue. 6/12; program launches Wed. 6/27).

City Council will hold their regularly scheduled legislative meeting. Items of interest include apresentation of a Proclamation recognizing the U.S. Patent and Trade Office (USPTO), and consideration of the following items: a Lease Agreement between the City of Alexandria and Sweetbake,Inc. for use of vacant cafe at the Torpedo Factory Art Center, the FY 2019 Long Range Interdepartmental Planning Work, approval of a waiver to the Special Event Policy to allow for programs and events on consecutive weekends at the Interim King Street Park at the Waterfront in support of the City's King Street Corridor Initiative and a Work Session to discuss Route 1 South Housing Affordability Strategy(Wed. 6/13 at 7:00 PM, City Hall, Council Chambers).

The West End Business Association will hold a happy hour for members and guests(Thurs. 6/14 at 5:30 - 7:30 PM, Taste of Asia, 362 S. Pickett St., Registration Requested).

The Waterfront Commission will hold their Annual Waterfront Walk from Windmill Hill Park to Canal Center Plaza(Sat. 6/16 at 9:00 - 11:00 AM, begins at Windmill Hill Park, 501 S. Union St.).
