|2013 VEDA Annual Meeting & Membership Luncheon-December 4, 2013|
As businesses and communities strive to recover from the recent recession, many economic development organizations are taking the opportunity to make sure they are mastering the basics, especially since the basics may have changed! VEDA's conferences and membership luncheons this year will feature foundational topics of economic development and will also incorporate new perspectives and practices.
VEDA Annual Meeting & Membership Luncheon - "The Best in Business Retention"
Likely one of the best sources of "real time” data, existing businesses help economic developers gauge their local business environment. A robust business retention and expansion program will not only keep you informed on up-to-date industry and workforce trends, but will help you foster collaborative relationships that will nurture growth and community investment. The Best in Business Retention completes VEDA’s year of Back to Basic programming and showcases best practices in existing business management. Take this opportunity to review your own program and learn new tricks of the trade. And remember, because existing companies account for the majority of new job creation and capital investment, if you’re not calling on the businesses in your community, it’s likely that someone else is.
SEDC Reception & Meeting
The Southern Economic Development Council (SEDC) will present: Are you Ready? A Seminar on Organizational and Community Disaster Preparedness. The program will begin at 3 pm on December 4th at the Omni Hotel. VEDA will co-host a reception at 5:30pm and the program will conclude at noon on December 5th. Separate registration is required for this SEDC event.
