Bedford ONE wraps up another successful year

 

Students from BSTC explore medical careers at Jefferson College of Health Sciences

We recently wrapped up our Bedford ONE tours for the 2017/18 school year. The Bedford ONE Program

(ONE = Offering New Experiences) is managed by the Bedford County Office of Economic Development with help from the EDA, and guided by a Steering Committee made up of representatives from Bedford County Schools, Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce, CVCC's Career Coaches, and private sector businesses. More than 225 students from BSTC, JFHS, LHS and SRHS visited 15 companies and/or colleges and universities this year to explore career pathways ranging from agriculture and advanced manufacturing to public safety and healthcare. The Farmers Markets in Bedford and Forest summer market are both open!

 

Bedford Farmers Market hours:

Tuesdays: 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Fridays: 7:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
1st Saturdays of the month: 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

 

Forest Farmers Market hours:

Saturdays: 8:00 am - noon.

Site Selection Magazine visits the Lynchburg Region: Makes stops in Bedford County

Ron Starner, Executive Vice President of Conway, Inc, and writer for Site Selection Magazine interviews Simplimatic's Kevin Welsch.

 

Ron Starner, EVP of Conway, Inc. included Bedford County as part of his tour of the Lynchburg Region for an article titledWhat America Can Learn from Lynchburg, Virginia.

 

Mr. Starner visited Simplimatic, the Center for Energy Research and Education, and toured our premier business park-
New London Business and Technology Center.

EDA assists Cintas with a production need

John Paterson, Supervisor at Cintas (left) gives EDA Chairman, Mickey Johnson a tour of the Cintas facility in Bedford.

 

The Bedford County EDA recently partnered with Bedford Regional Water Authority and the Town of Bedford EDA to provide a cash grant to Cintas for the purpose of increasing production outcomes and helping to further grow the business.

 

Cintas will utilize the grant to invest in a water softener and other equipment that will increase production. This grant follows an announcement in 2015 where Cintas successfully invested $6 million in Bedford to expand its facility and add up to 15 new jobs.

Three companies announce expansions this Spring

 

Innovairre cuts the ribbon for their new digital presses at a May 10 event.

In addition toInnovairre announcing 12 new jobs back in February, they recently announced another 30 new jobs will be created due to their newly installed digital presses for an
investment of $4.85M
in the County.

Central Virginia Manufacturing Company(CVM)is investing $300,000 in an expansion in Bedford creating nine new jobs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Custom One Truck Source shares its story of growth in Bedford County.

 

Custom One Truck Source

held a ribbon cutting event on May 17 to announce its expansion in Bedford County.

 

The company shared news that theyare on target to hire 30 new employees bringing their total to more than 200 people, and projected sales of $100M this year.

 

Thanks to Mr. Terry Dobyns who invested in this property to lease to this expanding company.
