Amherst, VA: Hermle North America, a long-standing clock manufacturer in Amherst, Virginia since 1977, is expanding its operations into furniture production and was recently honored by the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance for its recent investment and continued dedication to the Lynchburg Region.
Hermle has expanded its operations with a newly launched line, 1922 Commercial Furniture Company, which builds and manufactures custom hospitality furniture. The expansion includes a variety of improvements to the factory building, significant updates and changes to the technology and manufacturing processes throughout the factory, a focus on social and environmental sustainability, and the addition of seven new employees with the intention to hire more in 2019. With this new endeavor Hermle foresees continued company growth.
“Hermle is an important business in Amherst County and we applaud their new investment in 1922 Commercial Furniture,” said Victoria Hanson, Executive Director of the Economic Development Authority of Amherst County. “Hermle is yet another business that has found Amherst County as a place they can grow, diversify and expand their company.”
Leading figures of the Lynchburg Region’s manufacturing companies gathered Oct. 2 at the 2nd annual Salute to Manufacturing breakfast held in the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance office in Downtown Lynchburg to recognize a variety of regional manufacturers who continue to invest in the local community both through revenue and employment.
The award went to what the judges deemed to be the best representation of continued growth and investment from the area’s manufacturing companies. The judges were looking for companies that demonstrated a true commitment to a long-term, sustainable business model that delivered real, measurable social, governmental, and/or environmental benefits throughout the Region.
