RVA celebrates new leadership, rankings, and more…
My first few weeks at GRP have consisted of learning all about this wonderful area: the unique differences of our various localities, the marketability of our regional assets and our rich cultural scene. I'd like to thank our local partners, board members and business community for my warm welcome to the Richmond Region.
Surprisingly, there are several new leaders joining me including new faces at GRTC Transit System, ChamberRVA, and the Capital Region Airport Commission who will help create a new dynamic to advance the region into the future like never before.
Speaking of the Airport Commission, our partners over at Richmond International Airport have plenty to celebrate. The commission not only welcomed new President and CEO Perry J. Miller, but also announced its new 12-month passenger record. RIC continues to prove itself as a valuable asset in business attraction efforts.
Another record-setting reason to celebrate is the 42 Greater Richmond companies which ranked on Inc. magazine's recent 5000 list. We're proud to point out that two of our investors, Baskervilland the Timmons Group, sat among the top high-growth firms in the nation.
Businesses in the region are also celebrating that the electric rates in Greater Richmond are lower compared to the Mid-Atlantic and national averages. With industrial electric rates being lower than most regions, RVA has become a top spot for manufacturing, I.T., and supply chain firms.
