This Week: Events & Activities

TheGO Northern Virginia Councilinvites your input and participation in defining potentialGO Virginiaprojects for funding in 2020. GO Virginia can help fill the gap between High Tech Jobs and the available High Tech Workforce in Northern Virginia through grants for innovative projects.

That's why we are asking you to attend one of three GO Northern VA Town Hall meetings scheduled for November (two sessions remain). These 3-hour sessions will provide the GO Northern Virginia Council with new ideas for project development in two specific areas - (1) Accelerating the Development of Growth Companies and (2) Enhancing Technology Transfer and Commercialization from Research Centers and Institutions

(Town Hall 2: Mon., 11/25 at 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM, MEC-Loudoun, 202 Church Street SE, STE 100, Leesburg,Registration requested

Town Hall 3: Tues., 11/26 at 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Community Business Partnership, 656 Loisdale Court, STE 600, Springfield,Registration requested).

City Council will be joined by the Virginia Delegates at a work session to discuss Citylegislative priorities in preparation for the 2020 General Assembly(Tues., 11/26 at 5:00 - 7:00 PM, City Hall, 301 King St.).

City Council will also hold their regularly scheduled Legislative Meeting.Items of interest include a Workforce Development Center Work Session and consideration of a Phase II Dockless Mobility Pilot Program Draft Conditions for 2020(Mon., 11/26 at 7:00 - 9:00 PM, Council Chamber, City Hall, 301 King St.).

The Alexandria Economic Development Partnership office will be closed on Thursday and Friday (11/28-29) to observe Thanksgiving(Suite 400, 625 N. Washington St.).

The Carlyle Vitality Initiative's Holiday Festivities transforms John Carlyle Square into a lively open-air festival, opening with an appearance from Santa and Mrs. Claus and the town crier on December 1. The Holiday Market, with a wide range of vendors, will begin on December 1st and run through Friday the 6th.


Make sure to stop by on December 1st to start the holiday festivities with our town crier, the tree lighting ceremony and take photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will also be appearing December 4th from 5-7 pm.Photo Booth for pictures with Santa will be available on December 1st and 4th.

The Carlyle Neighborhood will also feature the Holiday Movie, "It's a Wonderful Life" in the Holiday Market's enclosed tent on December 8th, starting at 4 pm. Bring your own chair, blanket, and snacks.

Holiday Market: Sun.- Fri., 12/1-6 at 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM;

Movie: Sun., 12/8 at 4:00 PM, all at John Carlyle Square Park, 300 John Carlyle St.).
