For the communities we serve as economic developers, there is no doubt we are in uncharted territory. The spread of novel coronavirus COVID-19 has impacted the Commonwealth and the businesses we serve in ways we couldn’t have imagined.
What we can imagine, though, is the other side of this crisis.
What we can imagine is how to support each other.
What we can imagine is coming together as professional economic developers to find ways to help lift our communities and businesses, our friends and neighbors, out of challenging times.
What we can imagine is charting a way forward.
Now more than ever our communities need the leadership and knowledge of professional economic developers.
And that is what the Virginia Economic Developers Association can provide.

IEDC COVID-19 Update
Yesterday (March 24), IEDC hosted over 1600 registrants on what will be the first in a series of webinars responding to the COVID-19 crisis. Our speakers, led in a discussion by Eloisa Klementich of Invest Atlanta, shared thoughtful insights into what is currently happening and how it relates to previous disasters and crises. Bill Allen, Mike Williams, Jeff Sjostrom and Mike Grella presented information from their own experiences and helped field many (many) questions. We’re working on creating a ‘FAQ’ with the questions and hope to push those out soon.
