2019 Communications Committee Chair: Steve Harrison, Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance; Vice-Chair: David Manley, Joint IDA of Wythe County

The VEDA Communications Committee focuses on VEDA’s external communications and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors. Additionally, the Committee reviews VEDA’s printed and online presence and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors.

2019 CEDA Committee Chair: Traci Blido, Bedford County; Vice Chair: Jenny Carter, Virginia’s Community College System

The VEDA Community Economic Development Award Committee (CEDA) coordinates the selection process and ultimate presentation of the Community Economic Development Awards at the Spring Conference annually.

2019 Golf Tournament Committee (in conjunction with Spring & Fall Conferences) Co-Chairs: Bill Wiley, Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc., and Paul Bryan, Froehling & Robertson, Inc.; John Loftus, Virginia Economic Development Partnership

The VEDA Golf Tournament Committee plans and implements the Golf Tournaments during the Spring and Fall Conferences.

2019 LOTY Committee Chair: Patrick Barker, Frederick County Economic Development Authority

The VEDA Legislator of the Year Award Committee coordinates the selection process and ultimate presentation of the Legislator of the Year Award annually.

2019 Membership Committee Co-Chair: Amanda Jarratt, City of Frankin; Co-Chair: Linda Green, Southern Virginia Regional Alliance

The VEDA Membership Committee encourages and promotes membership in VEDA and reviews and recommends applications for membership as provided in the bylaws.

2019 Program Committee Chair: Gregory Hitchin, City of Waynesboro; Vice-Chair: Lori Melancon, Virginia Economic Development Partnership

The VEDA Program Committee reviews the content and themes of VEDA’s conferences and meetings (Spring Conference, Fall Conference, and Membership Meetings) to ensure consistency of message across programs. Under the auspices of the Program Committee individual meeting chairs and their committees work to deliver the Spring Conference, Fall Conference and two Membership Meetings annually.

2019 Professional Development Committee Chair: Voncile Gilbreath, City of Chesapeake Economic Development Department; Vice-Chair: Christina Winn, Prince William County Department of Economic Development

The VEDA Professional Development Committee focuses on issues and tasks related to furthering members’ economic development professional training efforts. The committee oversees the Scholarship process, collecting scholarship applications and making recommendations for scholarship recipients. This committee is responsible for exploring opportunities for professional development training in conjunction with existing VEDA meetings.

2019 Sponsorship Committee Chair: William Young, The Port of Virginia

The VEDA Sponsorship Committee conducts the annual Sponsorship Opportunity Campaign and follows up on those solicitations to support VEDA’s programs and activities throughout the year.

2019 Young Professionals Planning Committee Chair: Craig Kotarski, TIMMONS Group; Vice-Chair: Courtland Robinson, Virginia Economic Development Partnership

The VEDA Young Professionals Planning Committee works to plan and implement opportunities for ‘young’ professionals across VEDA’s Program of Work. Any VEDA member (35 years of age and younger) may be identified as a Young Professional by contacting the VEDA office.
